Welcome to the first of its kind virtual show specifically for Colonial Spanish Horses! This is a breed-specific event, so any horse registered in ANY of the six main registries (HOA, AIHR "O", SSMA, SMR, SBHA, or AHHA) is eligible to enter. Judging criteria will be the AIHR show rules which have been used for 30+ years to judge Colonial Spanish Horses and their descendants. All classes are being judged by approved AIHR/HOA judges.
Horses (and people) of all ages are encouraged to enter. Fees are $5 per class or $20 per horse for the entire show, which will include every class for which the horse is eligible under one rider/handler. There will be End of Show awards given for highest point earners. Entries will be expected to be sent as a video PER CLASS and uploaded via YouTube or DropBox. Halter will be judged based on conformation of the Colonial Spanish Horse as well as way of going and movement. This will require your horse to be clean, in hand, and to be seen standing square from both sides, the front, and the rear without fidgeting. Your horse will also have to trot in hand away and back towards the camera in a straight line.

Known as just "Costume", this class is judged primarily on authenticity. Costumes may be shown either mounted or in hand. Both historical characters and fictional characters are encouraged. Traditionally, 10% of the judge's decision can be based on crowd appeal, so videos from these classes may be released at the discretion of the judge. Tie breakers often come down to things like neoprene cinches, a stainless steel bit, or even rubber soles on boots so DETAILS MATTER.

This in hand class is a Judge's Preference's Class. After all, a good horse cannot be the wrong color. However, the Colonial Spanish Horse comes in so many beautiful colors - and this class celebrates those many beautiful coats! Simply have your horse stand square, describe your horse's color as your show all four sides and the top, and be sure to point out any special markings you want the judge to see.
Solid coated horses include anything from bays and blacks, to zebra striped grullas and chrome marked duns and buckskins. If your horse has no paint or appaloosa markings, they're most likely a solid. This is your class.
Judge: Nanci Falley
Tobiano, overo, tovero, pinto, medicine hat....If you have a beautiful paint, you have a broken colored horse! This is your class.
Judge: Susan Dreyfus
Snowflakes, leopards, varnish points, roans...These beautiful patterns are unique unto themselves and deserved their own class. If your horse is spotted or a luscious roan then this is your class.
Judge: Tomlyn Grey
Do you have a appaloosa paint? Not sure how blood sweating counts? Does your horse only have the tiniest spot on their belly and that's it? Feel free to reach out at theomlette@gmail.com or contact me on Facebook for help!
A different take on the classic reining class. This class is designed to show the responsiveness and athletic ability of the horse based on a designated pattern established by the judge. Tie downs are not permitted in this class. Competitors are allowed to use two hands on the reins, but one hand is allowed. Virtually all tack styles allowed -- including bitless bridles (no riding in halters, bareback, or bareback pads allowed). Tack choices must simply show safe and humane control.
